I know the power of using "You" from a copywriting background. Medium though seems to be different. Many publications especially the big ones want a personal story, from their guidelines they have different ways of expressing this. Some say they prioritize first-person over second-person and third person. Others say they only accept stories that use 'I' not 'you', etc. As a writer such a conflict is more likely to break you than build you. At the end of the day you just have to roll with the punches.
